Risk Management and Security Track

Security and the cloud are often perceived as an oxymoron. The cloud provides businesses of every size and type access to advanced technologies, platforms, and capabilities that historically would have been out of their reach. Unfortunately, the cloud also provides motivated and capable adversaries a unique opportunity to access vast amounts of data from numerous organizations with a single point of entry. It is no longer realistic for risk and security professionals to believe that they will prevent their organizations from leveraging the cloud. It is however still their responsibility to ensure they achieving the risk management and security expectations that have been established by their business leadership and stakeholders.

The Cloud Connect 2013 Risk Management and Security track will bring together some of the industry's best and brightest thought leaders and will focus on identifying the emerging threats and vulnerabilities associated with the cloud as well as the concepts, technologies, and industry leading practices that can be utilized to manage the risks that they create. Sessions in the track will focus on effectively identifying and understanding the risks and security concerns associated with the adoption and use of cloud solutions as well as pragmatic and useful approaches to effective mitigate and manage them. I hope you will join me in challenging both our speakers and ourselves to understand how to enhance our knowledge and capabilities to be more effective in leveraging the cloud in a secure a responsible way.

He has designed and implemented enterprise wide electronic business solutions, information security and risk management strategy and programs, enterprise resiliency capabilities, and threat and vulnerability management solutions for key customers in a range of industries, including financial services, insurance, energy, government, hospitality, aerospace, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, media and entertainment, and information technology on a global scale. John has a number of industry certifications including Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified in Risk and Information System Control (CRISC), Information Systems Security Architecture Professional and (ISSAP) and Information Systems Security Management Professional (ISSMP). John frequently provides briefings and acts as a trusted advisor to senior leaders of numerous organizations on information security and risk management and compliance topics and is also a member of a number of technical advisory boards for technology and services firms. He is also a published author and writer, highly quoted and often interviewed by global media, and an award winning frequent speaker on electronic business and information security and risk management topics at domestic and international industry conferences.

He is responsible for Courion’s setting overall corporate direction, long-term product strategy and roadmap, strategic investment, and mergers and acquisitions. Kurt also has the responsibility of securing and managing Courion's strategic alliances and partnerships. Prior to joining Courion, Kurt was VP of the Service Management Strategies at the analyst firm META Group (acquired by Gartner) Previous to META Group, Kurt led the CRM practice at The Bentley Company (acquired by eLoyalty) IDC, a premier global provider of market intelligence, and Digital Equipment. A frequent speaker and widely recognized as an authority on identity and access management (IAM), IT security, and IT Service Management, Kurt is a founding board member of the HDI Strategic Advisory Board. Network perimeters … More ▶ Speaker - Andrew Wild, Chief Security Officer, Qualys Andrew Wild has more than 20 years of experience leading teams to design, implement and operate secure networks and computer systems. As Qualys' chief security officer, Andrew oversees the security, risk management and compliance of its enterprise and SaaS environments. Prior to joining Qualys, he managed a team of information security engineers responsible for the design, implementation and operation of security solutions for EMC's SaaS offerings, with heavy emphasis on cloud and virtualization technologies. Prior to EMC, he was the chief security officer at Transaction Network Services. He has also held a variety of network engineering leadership roles with large network service providers including BT and Sprint. Andrew has a master's degree in electrical engineering from George Washington University and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the United States Military Academy. He is a veteran of the United States Army and served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
