ORACLE: Bridging the Gap Between Enterprise Datacenters and Public Clouds
Are public service provider clouds just IT outsourcing revisited? Or do they have unique characteristics that generate unique value? If so, what is that value? Are they a way of reducing total cost, providing flexible capacity that can accelerate time to market and manage unpredictability, enhance collaboration via shared spaces that can span supply chains, or something else? To evaluate cost savings, how should one assess internal IT costs? How can you evaluate the economic case for cloud computing?
This track focuses on perhaps the most important question of clouds: do they create value, and if so, how? It looks at the obvious--and hidden--costs of on-demand computing, and compares them to in-house IT alternatives. It compares cloud offerings and pricing models. And it looks at how pricing and ROI is changing due to the rapid innovation in the cloud.
