As a result, companies face legislative, cultural, and political hurdles on their way to on-demand IT. This track will look at the "human layer" of cloud computing, addressing many of the risks and challenges that arise.

Panelist - Nick Tsilas, Senior Director Public Policy, Microsoft Panelist - Subra Kumaraswamy, Cloud, Identity, and Security Technologist, EBay, Founding Member, Cloud Security Alliance  Subra Kumaraswamy has more than 18 years of engineering and management experience in information security, Internet, and e-commerce technologies. In his current leadership role at Sun, he is responsible for securing Sun infrastructure services for employees and customers. Subra has held leadership positions at various Internet-based companies, including Netscape, WhoWhere, Lycos, and Knowledge Networks. He was the cofounder of two Internet-based startups, CoolSync and Zingdata. He also worked at Accenture and the University of Notre Dame in security consulting and software engineering roles. In his spare time, Subra researches emerging technologies including cloud computing, social networks to understand the security and privacy implications for users and enterprises. Subra is one of the authors of Cloud Security and Privacy, which addresses issues that affect any organization preparing to use cloud computing as an option. He's a founding member of the Cloud Security Alliance as well as cochair of the Identity & Access Management and Encryption & Key Management workgroups. Val Rahmani, CEO of Damballa, has over 25 years of customer-driven business and technical leadership. Val became the CEO of Damballa in November 2009. Prior to that, she served as General Manager of IBM's Internet Security Systems (ISS) division after leading IBM's $1.3 billion acquisition of the company. Prior to ISS, Val held several general management roles within IBM, including multi-billion dollar hardware, software and services businesses. Her IBM experience includes UNIX, mainframe, storage, green IT, business continuity and security. She led teams focused on government, telecommunications, wireless and media markets in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. She also ran a strategy unit, where she focused on emerging markets, global alliances and services business models. Val was born in the United Kingdom and first came to the United States as Executive Assistant to Lou Gerstner, soon after he became Chairman and CEO of IBM. Val is an accomplished speaker, keynoting security industry events such the RSA conference. Val holds an MA and a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry from Oxford University in England, and is a member of the British aerobatics team. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia. | |

This unique session discusses the comm… More ▶ Speaker - Dr. Chenxi Wang, Analyst, Security and Risk Management, Forrester Research Dr. Wang is a member of Forrester's Security and Risk Management research team. She covers application security and content security. She is a frequent keynote speaker in research and industry conferences. Prior to joining Forrester, Chenxi was the principal Scientist for KSR, Inc, a risk management service provider firm. Prior to that, Chenxi was an Associate Professor at Carnegie Mellon University for computer security. At CMU, Chenxi led a number of large research projects, including research effort funded by the Department of Defense and National Science Foundation. Chenxi conducted consultative projects for the Federal Trade Commission, HP Labs, Lucent, and a number of Venture Capital companies. Earlier on in her career, Chenxi held one of the first research associate positions at Citibank's Corporate Information Security Office (CISO), the very first CISO designation in the country. Chenxi holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Virginia. | |
